Putting your fear aside from God causes sin

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I'm beginning to realize I, as well as many others, go wrong when we fear things other than the Lord. Such as - fear of opinion, fear of disease, fear of rejection, fear of isolation, fear of the jesuits/ government/ vaccinations, microchips, conspiracies, etc.

  And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.

Make sure you are fearing God alone and not the things of this world. Fear of the Lord will deliver you from the sins of disobedience. Obey God, not the world.

Good verse: 1 Samuel 15:24

It's a great word study:
fear, fears, feared, fearing, feareth, fearest, fearful, fearfully, fearfulness

And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord,
that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.
Job 28:28

For the LORD is great, and greatly to be praised:
he is to be feared above all gods.
For all the gods of the nations are idols:
but the LORD made the heavens.
Psalms 96:4-5

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge:
but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Proverbs 1:7

He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD:
but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.
Proverbs 14:2

A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil:
but the fool rageth, and is confident.
Proverbs 14:16

Happy is the man that feareth alway:
but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.
Proverbs 28:14

And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul:
but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Matthew 10:28

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear;
but ye have received the Spirit of adoption,
whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
Romans 8:15

Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father
in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
Ephesians 5:19-21

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear;
but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7

It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
Hebrews 10:31

Let your conversation be without covetousness;
and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said,
I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper,
and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
Hebrews 13:5-6

Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons
judgeth according to every man's work,
pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:
Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things,
as silver and gold, from your vain conversation
received by tradition from your fathers;
But with the precious blood of Christ,
as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world,
but was manifest in these last times for you,
Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead,
and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
1 Peter 1:16-21

Herein is our love made perfect,
that we may have boldness in the day of judgment:
because as he is, so are we in this world.
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear:
because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
We love him, because he first loved us.
If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother,
he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen,
how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
1 John 4:17-20

Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name?
for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee;
for thy judgments are made manifest.
Revelation 15:4

Amen, brother. Absolutely right. I was out of fellowship with the Lord for a time and the only thing that brought me back was fearing Him. I came to the realization that I had better get back in fellowship because one day I was going to stand before the Lord Jesus Christ and I got real scared, real quick. He was not going to be pleased with me.

Just as an example of fearing men, I've noticed the Lord tries to get me out of my comfort zone and my flesh resists. I've always been on the quieter side in speech, but I've noticed once I step out of my comfort zone and listen to the Lord, he gives me the strength from that point, and I am that much more bolder to do those same things next time, as well as taking that next step for the greater task ahead. All glory to the Lord Jesus Christ for that.

Proverbs 28:1 described much of my struggle and was a big eye opener to not fleeing like the wicked. The righteous are to be bold.

Quote

Proverbs 28:1 (KJV) The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.

Quote

Psalm 19:9 (KJV) The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.

I think fear would be a good sermon for Bryan if someone could communicate that suggestion to him.
