[Solved] New Testament spellings
Why are some names spelled differently in the New Testament?
Oh, that, well I was speaking to my own opinion on the matter to be honest (sorry for any confusion), but The Hebrew roots movement and the sacred name cult seem to me to deny portions of the new testament because it was first written in Greek instead of Hebrew. By this i mean they deny the name of Jesus and instead the substitute Yahweh, or Yehoshua, yahawashy, whatever "sacred name" they decide they like best. I have seen instances where the name thing progress. They will bounce from one name to the next and with each jump they act like they have so special knowledge that the people holding to the previous name do not have. the whole system seems filled with mysticism and pride to me. The Bible clearly says there is no other name whereby we must be saved, speaking of the name of Jesus, Acts 4:12 and this "sacred name" nonsense is not only a denial of the truth of scripture, but is actually a denial of The Lord Jesus Christ Himself and therefore they violate Matthew 10:32-33 and fall under the condemnation of it.
Not much to elaborate on really. As an example, my given name in English is Matthew, but in Hebrew my name is Matityahu or Mattias if I am not mistaken. Another example of this is the name John, in Spanish John is spelled Juan.
