[Solved] Is Satan a man?

Is Satan a man?

I ask this because of this verse:

Isaiah 14:16

They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee,
and consider thee, saying,
Is this the man that made the earth to tremble,
that did shake kingdoms;

Lucifer is Satan's original name, they are one and the same. As for your question if he is a man, the answer from what I've gathered is that Satan is an angel and is not & cannot be a man because him and his angels are not redeemable by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. (FYI: he will be IN the antichrist/the beast for the last 3.5 years of the tribulations but that's more of a case of spiritual possession, that doesn't make him a man)

If you look carefully in the passage you've mentioned, Isaiah 14:16 the Bible doesn't say that he is a man, but that it is those who will see him that will be asking and wondering: "Is this the man that made the earth to tremble...?" this is a question and not a confirmation. I'm guessing that's a clue about his appearance in the bottomless pit (or later in the lake of fire) that could be in a form that could be mistaken with that of a man, hence the question starting like that.

It's not always this subtle, but sometimes we have to pay attention to the details , especially when it's formulated as a question, many times we've seen people ask questions in the same way throughout the Bible and their assumptions turned out to be wrong and ill-founded.

Please feel free to correct me if you think I'm wrong, I'm open to discuss everything as long as we stay faithful to the word of God.

Maybe that's why they try to create an AI that looks like a man. I think the difference is an AI does not have a soul. It could be possible that an evil spirit could make the AI to behave like a man and that's why the question in the bible is " is this the man?".

How would the bible explain a microchip to one of the prophets?

He is not an angel, he is a cherub

Ezekiel 28:14

Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.

In Isaiah 14:12 it says "O Lucifer"

Where it says that Lucifer and Satan are one and the same?

Satan fell from heaven.

Luke 10:18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.

Lets see what scripture reveals, Revelation 6:1And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see. 2And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.

2 Thessalonians 2:3Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

This is talking about Antichirst, not Satan.

There is more than one angel that fell from heaven I know that, actually the bible says one third of them. I am looking for bible chapter and verse that says Lucifer and Satan is one and the same angel.  Did anyone consider looking at the two beasts from the book of revelation as one being Lucifer and the other beast being Satan?

Lucifer comes from Latin for "light-bearer". Other English words related, for example, are illustrate, lucid, luster, etc.

This relates to 2nd Cor. 11:14, "And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light." As others have said, this also relates to Jesus saying He saw Satan as lightning fall from heaven. I could also see the possibility of some relation with the king of Tyre in Isaiah 14 and "the prince of the kingdom of Persia" in Daniel 10, which is clearly talking about the principalities, powers, rulers of darkness of this world, and spiritual wickedness in high places that Ephesians 6 talks about -- "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood" (indicating these are spiritual beings).

Revelation 12:9And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

There is no need to rethink this...it's clear.

There are three. False prophet, the beast, and Satan...which one is the antichrist?

The beast

Brother Sasa, in revelation 13 you have 2 beasts only...not like chapter 12 where he is literally called the Dragon. And in chapter 13 both beasts, one being the beast, the other the false prophet, both were given power by the Dragon. I guess we should attack this together.

Sister Mary,

Revelation 13:2And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.

The Bible says a man...yes he may be possessed but it still calls him a man

Revelation 13:18Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

wow! thanks for this question, brother sasha! Isaiah 14: 16 (kjv)) confirms what Psalm 82: 6-7 (kjv) is saying! truly Psalm 82 is very mysterious and now less so! praise the Lord and his precious word!

I m a brother.

Revelation 16:13And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.

If the Dragon gave the beast his power and the beast called the false prophet...wouldn't you say the Dragon is Satan?

To further go into this...

Revelation 19:20And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. 21And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which swordproceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.

Notice the beast and false prophet go first, Satan is last.

Maybe i need to look further. As antichrist for me is Satan.

While doing some research on the subject here's what I found: (thank you brother sasha for reminding me that Satan used to belong to the Cherubim class, though they are part of the angelic realm they are not "angels".)

KJV Dictionary C cherub
« cherish cherubim »
KJV Dictionary Definition: cherub
CHERUB, n. plu. Cherubs, but the Hebrew plural cherubim is also used.

A figure composed of various creatures, as a man, an ox, an eagle or lion. The first mention of cherubs is in Gen. 3:24, where the figure is not described, but their office was, with a flaming sword, to keep or guard the way of the tree of life. The two cherubs which Moses was commanded to make at the ends of the Mercy seat, were to be of beaten work of gold; and their wings were to extend over the Mercy seat, their faces towards each other, and between them was the residence of the Deity. Ex. 15. The cherubs, in Ezekiels vision, had each four heads or faces, the hands of a man and wings. The four faces were, the face of a bull, that of a man, that of a lion, and that of an eagle. They had the likeness of a man. Ezek. 4 and 10. (this could confirm my previous theory) In 2 Sam. 22:11, and Psalm 18., Jehovah is represented as riding on a cherub, and flying on the wings of the wind. In the celestial hierarchy, cherubs are represented as spirits next in order to seraphs. The hieroglyphical and emblematical figures embroidered on the vails of the tabernacle are called cherubs of curious or skilful work. Ex. 26.

CHERUBIC, a. Pertaining to cherubs; angelic.

-To sister Denise: AI is definitely worrisome and I wouldn't be surprised if they can be possessed and used in that way, their obsession with making it ressemble a human being could be linked to "the image of the beast" found in Revelation.

- To brother Michael: the antichrist is a man and he will be used by Satan, as for the dragon you're right, it is another name for Satan (other names are: the serpent and leviathan). The antichrist (also known as the beast) and the false prophet will be thrown first into the lake of fire, while Satan will be locked up for a thousand years then will get to come back and tempt the world again one last time before he joins the antichrist and the false prophet in the lake of fire for all eternity.

I will give chapters and verses later on when I get home, right now I'm having trouble doing that on an ipad, it keeps refreshing the page which erases my comment...

To sister Denise:  "And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed." Revelation 13:14-15

We can see that this image of this beast is 1: something that is created and also made to look like the beast and 2: something that will be brought to "life" being able to talk and will behave as an authority representing the beast.

These 2 points fit so well with the rise of AI technology, it is advancing at such an incredible pace, and there has been talks about having an AI god (can it get any more obvious?!), here are excerpts from web articles on the subject: "Within the next 50 or 100 years, an AI might know more than the entire population of the planet. At that point, will control almost every connected device on the planet — will somehow rise in status to become more like a god, according to the leading experts on the future of artificial intelligence. Speaking about the advent of this technology, the Da Vinci Code writer said: “Humanity no longer needs God but may with the help of artificial intelligence develop a new form of collective consciousness that fulfils the role of religion."' ... Romans 1:22 !

I may be speculating but many signs point to the fact that AI may play a big part in the antichrist system.

To brother Michael, here are the verses I was referring to: Revelation 20:1-3 and Revelation 20:7-10

God bless you all.

Yes he is a cherub..the fifth one...that's why Ezekiel didn't see him, only 4.

But the words tell us a man will come. I was up till night trying to understand this...all three come as beasts.

I've never studied revelation...but this has me needing to.

If Satan is a fallen cherub, would that make him a spirit?

1John 4:3And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

I'm really am trying to get my head around this, Satan= the devil= wouldn't that also be the antichrist...his power?

This describes him as a cherub or am i seeing this wrong?

Revelation 13:1And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. 2And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
