I have been experimenting with video editing, want to put the Scourby KJV recording's with text.

Here are a few tests.

Example 1

Example 2

want to settle on a design before moving forward, if anyone has any thoughts.

-older style font vs more legible font (old font looks nice, may be hard to read for some)

-rows of text not as long, so it is easier to track to the next line (but more wasted space, screen wise)

-background image idea's

Not to be a stick in the mud, but what about copywrite?

KJV Vancouver,

I love this idea especially for my 6 year old.  He likes to follow along in his bible when we play the audio bible, but he has a lot of trouble still being 6.  With this he can listen and follow along and learn how to pronounce the harder to read words.  I also like to listen to the bible while I make bible tracts so my hands are busy and with this I can just read on the screen instead of using a bible program and have to move the mouse constantly to follow along. I personally prefer the old English style writing, but my wife and kids definitely prefer your 2nd video as the words are much easier to read on that background.  I did find the voice graph bar to be a bit distracting, it looks good having it sync with his voice but I found my eyes wandering to it.  I really hope you do the whole bible as I can't wait to download it off you tube.

I was concerned with copyright but the whole 'fair use' (in Canada 'fair dealing') is quite a grey area.

I'm still looking into it but it seemed to fall under these options:

-------From Link-------

When reproducing content while physically in Canada, even content from another country, you apply Canadian copyright law.  Thus in Canada, works have protection for life-plus-fifty, even works created in the U.S. that would be protected in the U.S. for life-plus-seventy. When in Canada, you can apply fair dealing to the use of works, even to U.S. works.

There’s no fair use provision in the Canadian Copyright Act. There is a fair dealing provision for specific purposes:

  • Research
  • Privatestudy
  • Education*
  • Parody*
  • Satire
  • Criticism
  • Review
  • News reporting

* The purposes of parody and education were added as part of the 2012 amendments to the Canadian Copyright Act.

The Canadian Copyright Act allows an individual to use copyright protected materials when creating a new work such as a mash-up, and to post the new work online on a site like YouTube. This is a unique provision added to the Canadian Copyright Act in 2012.

-------Scourby (wiki)-------

Litchfield Associates, and in 1991, Litchfield bought all rights, titles, and interests, including the copyrights from the estate of Alexander Scourby. The copyrights have a date of 1991.

-------End-------

I'm still new to dealing with copyright if anyone has more experience / advice.

Very nice indeed! I think you did a grate job. I look forward to more.  How long will it  take to do the OT and NT? I would like to link to them on my site.

Keep up the good work, and may the Lord Jesus bless you.

As I'm new to the editing program, it took quite a while but much of that was doing things over and over again as I learned and finalized a design that I like.

Refining the design took ~15hrs (shouldn't have to do that again)
Editing the video took ~10hrs (should get faster as I do it over and over again)
Rendering the video took ~9hrs (I just let it render while I'm sleeping)
Uploading the video took ~3hrs (I let it upload while I'm at work)

Now that I have a kind of template it should go smoother, I may alternate between OT and NT books, not sure yet.

Regarding copyright, we will see if it gets taken down, in that case I'll just provide the video's to brethren for their personal use which I believe is covered under "private study" of copyright law (in Canada).

Sounds good, I am looking forward to more.

As far as IP is concerned, I am not a fan of it. I brought it up just because they are cracking down on it so much now days. IMHO you should not be able to 'own' an idea, thought or concept. If it can not be held in your hands, then it should not be protected. That includes media as well. One can copy anything now days, if you do not want others to have it then don't say it or release it.

I do not attempt to  protect anything I produce. In fact, I would be pleased if people 'spidered' my website and took the entire thing. I put the information out so people would have it, not to make a buck. I don't link to Amazon for payment, or ask for money. I just want to help people learn the Word, and get saved.

So once again, thank you for your effort. My God bless you and your project.

Thank you for putting up Ephesians.  I have no idea how video editing works but would it be easy to put the chapter on the screen at all times?  Not a big deal if its not possible, but sometimes I like to listen to certain chapters that I'm studying and if the chapter was on the screen at all times it would make it a breeze to find it.  But I really do love these as my wife for example is visually impaired and we can't find any large enough print bibles that she can read.  But having this on our big screen (doesn't get any use now as we ditched tv/movies a while back) she can follow along instead of just listen.  Im downloading them all for offline use as well.

That's a good idea, at first I was going to just eventually put the chapter time marks in the description, but that is no help to people who download, so I'll try to come up with something simple.

Do you need them to be smaller for downloading?

I was going for quality, when done rendering they are about ~10GB, which isn't that bad for ~3hrs of 1080p.

I thought YouTube would shrink them down with their processing anyways once uploaded, guess not.
